I've been busy at work getting much deeper into James Brown's tunes than I have before. I've been raving about the Funkmasters: The Great James Brown Rhythm Sections, 1960-73. It's been great to study the grooves, practice reading bass clef, work on transcribing entire songs (the book only has main grooves, with a few variations, but not the entire song transcribed), and jamming along to them, recording bass lines over the original recordings and listening back and analyzing what I played, what worked, what didn't, etc.
So here they are, I'll add to this list as I work on more. They're in order from most recent to older.
