In addition to a deep love of classic sounds from the 60's, Bailey has an equally deep love for South Asian devotional music.  He can be found around the Bay Area and beyond offering his devotion with a deeply resonating foundation upon which the songs of the Divine can play.

James Brown Set List

Some JB tunes I'm putting together for a set or two.

Bass Covers

by Bass covers by me

I'm not intending to play these note for note with the original bass lines, but to take the main theme, and play it so that it sounds mostly like something the original player would play while adding a little of my own thing, for better or worse.

Tracks Featuring Bailey on Bass

It all started when...

Bailey discovered Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin in high school...

Over the years Bailey has honed his style to incorporate bits and pieces from Roger Waters' (Pink Floyd) tastefully executed bass lines; John Paul Jones' (Led Zeppelin) melodic lines that weave through songs; bluesy, edgy grooves from Chas Chandler (The Animals), Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix), Jack Bruce (Cream) and others; classic Motown era sounds and styles from James Jamerson, Donald "Duck" Dunn, Bob Babbitt; deeply laid back grooves of Aston "Family Man" Barrett (Bob Marley and The Wailers) and Robbie Shakespeare (just about every other great roots reggae song recorded); George Porter Jr.'s (The Meters) syncopated accents.

Bailey began playing bass in high school in 1990.  He has played in a variety of bands and projects around the SF Bay Area beginning in the early 90's.  Most recently he has been involved with Jonathan Green and Friends (Singer/songwriter), Uncle Lenny's Blues Jam, members from Kingpin Rowe and The Grateful Church, acted as band leader and bass player for Otis and The Secret Army, and currently plays devotional music with Astrud and The Cosmic Caravan.

Bailey brings professionalism and an easy-to-work with personality to every project.  He is available for live and studio work, including short-term and one-off projects, subbing, local and regional tours, and longer-term projects.  Contact Bailey here.
